Singtel partners Telkomsel to expand mobile money services

Singtel (stock quote: Z74.SI) and Telkomsel, a subsidiary of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (stock quote: IDX: TLKM) launched a real-time mobile remittance service to Indonesia.  Offered by SingCash under the Singtel Dash brand, this service allows customers in Singapore to send money to Kantor Pos, a state-owned company responsible for providing postal service in Indonesia,  across the country via Weselpos Instan (a remittance product of PT Pos Indonesia ). This is an enhancement to the current facility that lets customers send money to Indonesian bank accounts.

The service was launched at Festival Rising50, the first concert event celebrating 50 years of Singapore and Indonesia bilateral ties. It marks the first time that Singtel and Telkomsel are collaborating on mobile money initiatives to drive innovation in both their markets.
According to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Singapore, there are 200,000 Indonesians living and working in Singapore. Outward remittance from Singapore to Indonesia totals more than US$ 409 million yearly.


Mr Yuen Kuan Moon, Chief Executive Officer, Consumer Singapore, Singtel, said, “Indonesia is one of our main remittance corridors and we are pleased to partner Telkomsel to offer convenient and secure mobile remittance cash pick-up service for our Indonesian friends. We are also excited to contribute to Singapore’s journey to a Smart Nation by developing the mobile payments ecosystem in Singapore.”

In line with their commitment to work together on smart money initiatives, the two leading telcos also announced future plans to offer mobile remittance to Telkomsel’s TCash, offering a complete mobile wallet-to-mobile wallet experience. They also plan to expand the number of cash pick-up points to GraPARI Telkomsel service centres, as well as PT Bank BRI branches in the second half of this year.

Shell’s Make The Future 2017 Ends With Positive Response From the Public

Shell’s Make The Future, a 4-Day Festival held from 16-19 Mar 2017, ends with a positive note from the public. Schools from all parts of Singapore joined the event with the primary objective in promoting awareness of carbon-reduction and efficient use of energy.

Instead of writing about how we feel about the product, we’ve decided to do something different this time and get a female blogger  ( to share with us her experience after using this product.


Q1. Have you heard of Sudio? What’s your first impression when you first got hold of the Sudio Regent?

I first got to know about Sudio until they launched the Sudio Vasa Blå. It left a very strong impression on me because the earphones looked stunning!

Sudio Regent exemplifies the Sudio’s design philosophy – minimalist, elegant and timeless. It’s definitely a beautiful headphone that you would want to show off to your friends.

Q2. Which genre do you usually listen to? And does the sound profile meet your expectations?  

I listen to a rather wide variety of genres so it’s a bit difficult to say. For instrumentals, I prefer artists like Kenny G, Keiko Matsui, Kaori Kobayashi and Jessy J. For vocals, I like Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, Michael Bublé, Il Divo, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige and Toni Braxton.

Anyway, I find that the Sudio Regent generally performs well for instrumentals, there is good clarity and balance. Unfortunately, the bass is a little weaker than I would like. For vocals, I find that the sound quality tends to be a bit airy.

Q3. What’s the best (or worst) experience you had while using this product?

I like that the Sudio Regent offers both Bluetooth and wired option, which makes it very versatile and is ideal for travelling. The headphone is light and foldable, making it very portable. In addition, you can change the caps on the headphone and match the headphones to your OOTD.

The headphones sits on the ear and is generally quite comfortable. However, after prolonged usage, the headphone will start to feel a bit too tight for my head (maybe because I have a big head?) But for commuting I would not expect to wear this continuously for over an hour so it’s not a big issue.


Q4. Considering all factors: Design, features, sound quality and price, how do you rate the product?

I would give it a 6.5/10. It is definitely worthy of a consideration if you are in the market for portable headphones.

Lamch & Co, Brings Klokers Watches Into Singapore

KLOK-01: Inspired by the side rule
Klokers timepieces are neither vintage nor retro but part of a transverse reality. They offer a means to travel between yesterday and tomorrow, being resolutely focused on the future. These are the Klokers Machines To Travel Through Time.

Before the advent of cheap pocket calculators, slide rules were the fastest method for working out complex calculations. Travel through time as Klokers pays homage to this iconic, form-followsfunction instrument with the brand’s first watch, the KLOK-01, featuring three rotating disks displaying time along a vertical line.

The KLOK-01 display is a graphical representation of a slide rule using three rotating concentric rings to display the time along a vertical red line. The rings — one each for hours, minutes, and seconds — rotate at different speeds, making the whole dial a symphony of motion.


KLOK-01 is Swiss Made and features a high-tech movement with a high-precision quartz movement. KLOCK-02: Push button time travel

Until the end of the 19th century, most towns and cities throughout the world had their own time.  And while that might seem a recipe for chaos now, back then the fastest form of transport was the horse and here was no need to a more structured system. However, with the advent of the railroads opening up much of America, it became evident that train timetables needed to be harmonized, not just for travelers but also avoiding trains travelling in different directions on the same track at the same time.


Then in 1884, the timezones we know today was established. While time zones were essential in enabling fast and reliable train transport, they were even more so when international aviation (quite literally) took off. Today, many if not most of us have regular connections, either physical or digital, with friends, family, and colleagues in various locations and time zone around the world and KLOK02 makes it easier than ever to know not just where they are, but when they are.



While it may be the large arc of the retrograde minutes and seconds sweeping across the top section of KLOK-02 that first catches the eye, it’s the small windows underneath where the real magic happens. A circular opening displays jumping hours, to the right of which is a window showing cities, each city in one of 24 time zones around the world. A short press of the pusher on the case band at 4 o’clock changes the city/time zone and the hour in that city’s time zone automatically synchronizes.  A longer press of the pusher causes the date to display.

KLOK-02 features a high-precision, quartz regulated, Swiss Made Soprod SOP 813 mechatronic movement with displays driven by high-efficiency/low power consumption, bi-directional Lavet micromotors. The KLOK-02 just like the KLOK-01 is also waterproof up to 5m.

Criteo Report: Online Browsing and Sales Before and During Lunar New Year Continues to Grow; Personalise Engagement to Capture the Season’s eCommerce Opportunity

  • eCommerce sales spiked by 188 percent 11 days before the first day of Lunar New Year in 2016.
  • 68 percent increase in online transactions before and during Lunar New Year in 2016, up from the 40 percent increase during the same period in 2015.
  • Easy navigation and shorter checkout processes on mobile sites and applications, and multi-channel integration key to improving retail sales before, during and after Lunar New Year in 2017.


Singapore – 25 January 2017 – Criteo (NASDAQ: CRTO), the performance marketing technology company, today released seasonal data from 2016, in anticipation of Lunar New Year, to help retail businesses better engage consumers during the festive season. The company’s deep-dive into consumer browsing and buying activity revealed that in the two weeks before and after the first day of Lunar New Year, consumers browsed and purchased retail products more actively than before – an 81 percent increase in online visitors to eCommerce sites and a 68 percent increase in eCommerce sales.


The findings are based on an analysis of 65 million online transactions in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan before, during and after Lunar New Year in 2016.


Mobile devices involved in all aspects of eCommerce during Lunar New Year:

  • 32 percent of all eCommerce transactions happened on a mobile device.
  • More than 6 in 10 consumers browsed on a combination of PCs and mobile devices, before making a final purchase on either device.
  • Online purchases of apparel and jewellery increased by 57 percent and 62 percent respectively.
  • Online retailers who used Criteo’s cross-device and in-app retargeting solutions to optimise their online advertising campaigns across PCs and mobile devices generated a 129 percent increase in revenue.


“Consumers have come to expect exclusive online collections and discounts during this period, timing their purchases so they have the best deals and new clothes or jewellery to symbolise the new beginning. They also tend to continue shopping indoors and online throughout all 15 days of Lunar New Year. Given the fluid nature of online shopping behaviour and intense competition, retailers must use advanced technology that delivers personalised engagement, based on each consumer’s buying habits, expressed interests and online surfing history to leverage this opportunity,” said Yvonne Chang, Executive Managing Director, Asia-Pacific, Criteo.


Criteo shares two additional trends that will also impact regional retailers during the Lunar New Year season.


Consumers will use mobile to make high-value purchases: Desktops were once the king of big-ticket purchases, but in 2017, consumers in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan will feel equally comfortable purchasing expensive items on smartphones. The Average Order Value (AOV) on mobile applications was 27 percent higher than desktops in Q2 2016. The AOV on mobile browsers was only 9 percent lower than desktop during the same period[1].


Retailers will see a high web influence on offline sales: Shoppers in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan are becoming experts at “showrooming” – the phenomenon of looking at items at a brick-and-mortar store whilst checking the prices available online. In Singapore, while in physical stores, 62 percent of local shoppers are browsing similar products online and comparing prices to ensure they get the best deals[2]. 69 of these consumers end up purchasing the same product or service online rather than offline2. In Hong Kong and Taiwan, 32 percent and 47 percent of consumers are looking to make purchases online, rather than offline3.

“Luxury clothing, jewellery and furniture are some of the big-ticket purchases consumers are now starting to make online before and during Lunar New Year. With mobile devices now the primary channel for consumer interactions, security, easy navigation and a shorter checkout process on mobile sites and applications will encourage consumers to complete more big-ticket shopping journeys. To avoid losing out to their online counterparts during this season and beyond, offline retailers looking to retain and convert customers must start integrating online channels – mobile optimised sites or applications, and consider Customer Relationship Management (CRM) data optimisation, to engage customers before, during and after store visits,” said Chang.
