Press Release – LeEco hits new online sales record of ₹ 78 Crore with Le 2 & Le Max2

Bangalore / New Delhi, June 28, 2016:  LeEco garners Rs 78.6 crore by achieving sales orders of over 61,000 units of its next generation Superphones, Le 2 and Le Max2, in its flash sale campaign on both LeMall.com India and Flipkart, updating the industry records set by itself a few months ago. The total registration reached over 6 lakh within 8 days. LeEco is also the first brand which released two flagship phones with Qualcomm processors in the same day.

The records were achieved through two combined channels, LeEco’s own marketplace ecommerce platform, LeMall.com India, which was just launched on June 8th, and Flipkart.

Atul Jain, COO – Smart Electronics, LeEco India, said, “We are humbled to see yet another stupendous Flash Sale record in a row. The entire LeEco family is overwhelmed seeing the response from our users. This time we have introduced world’s first Digital Lossless audio standard (CDLA). This will bring an unparalleled audio experience to our superfans thereby ushering in an era of lossless music in India and the globe. This is going to become the new industry standard. We promise to live up to our Superfans’ expectation by bringing more breakthrough technologies, stronger comprehensive ecosystem, and disruptive pricing”.

The unprecedented responses from buyers were expected given four compelling reasons LeEco brought to the smartphone market in India: lossless music with CDLA standard, Supertainment with a complete content ecosystem and membership program, stylish design and unprecedented features with cool technologies, and all these three coming at a disruptive price offer by LeEco.

The record making numbers of more than 61,000 orders received from buyers only vindicates the point that LeEco’s Superphones popularity has been soaring in an unprecedented rate.

The total sales number in the flash sale also points to the growing craze for Lossless music. To catalyze this CDLA (Continual Digital Lossless Audio) standard adoption, LeEco has made a handsome investment of Rs 200 million. In the first flash sale of its Superphones Le 2 and Le Max2 that was held today (June 28), the internet technology conglomerate gave away a free CDLA earphone worth Rs. 1990 to all Le 2 and Le Max2 buyers. LeEco is the world’s first company that created the type-C CDLA earphone, replacing the traditional 3.5mm headphone port and creating a lossless audio experience to end users.

The Supertainment program of LeEco is something that is resistless given the popularity of entertainment programs in India. LeEco is now working with big names like Eros Now, YuppTV and Hungama in India. Through LeEco’s Membership program, users can get access to a collection of 2000+ movies, inclusive of premieres from Hollywood & Bollywood. LeEco membership program also provides 3000+ hours of curated shows, 150+ live TV channels and 3.5 million songs of users’ choices. LeEco takes the lead in offering 1.9 million songs with lossless audio, bringing the users’ audio experience to a brand new height.

Another reason that makes LeEco Superphone hard to resist is its stylish design and cool features and technology. With stylish unibody metal designs, Le 2 is powered by the Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset, making the phone the first one in India to adopt such high-end and the most powerful Octa-Core CPU, which performs 21% faster than Snapdragon 800 and is also miles ahead of Snapdragon 808. Le 2 provides a 16MP rear camera and 8MP front camera. The image quality is visibly better with vibrant and true-to-life colours. With technologies like PDAF, Closed Loop and other ground-breaking technologies, people can catch clear pictures in moving and unfavourable conditions.

Powered by the world’s most powerful processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, Le Max2 features the high performance combination of 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM, pushing the limits of the industry to new heights. With a RAM three times that of the iPhone 6s Plus, Le Max2 gives 40% faster performance than most other models.

Le Max2 features a 5.7 inch screen in 2K Super Retina Display, the best display for itself and for VR equipment. Its 21MP rear camera and 8MP front camera both come with the blazingly fast PDAF standard and F 2.0 aperture, which protects the images from smear and dim light. The cameras on Le Max2 shot pictures with great clarity thanks to improved components or technologies like 6-layer of lens, PDAF, Closed Loop, optical image stabilization, Dual HDR and Dual-tone flash and so on.

Le 2, the 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM combination Superphone, comes at a compelling price of Rs 11,999. Le Max2, the 4GB+32GB model is priced at a disruptive price of Rs 22,999, and for the high-end 6GB RAM and 64 GB ROM combination the price is at an irresistible Rs 29,999.

For people who missed June 28th flash sale, they can expect the upcoming opportunity very soon. LeEco’s 2nd flash sale for Le 2 and Le Max2 will start on July 5th, and the registration commence from 4pm today (June 28).

During the July 5th flash sale of Le 2 and Le Max2, users can look forward to some amazing offers from both Flipkart and LeMall India:

  1. 10% cashback. (Details to come soon)
  2. Free CDLA Earphones worth Rs.1990
  3. Both Superphones include a one-year LeEco membership worth Rs 4900

Video: Singtel Data ExStream: Can a mobile network replace your eyes?

Singtel today released a film, Data ExStream which demonstrates the speed, coverage, reliability and low latency of the Singtel mobile network by putting it to three extreme tests in real-world conditions. This is the first time that a local telecommunications network has been tested in such a unique manner.

The film features a series of extreme challenges conducted across Singapore to test Singtel’s tri-band 4G+ network. The challenges included Singapore’s world champion fencing star, Lau Ywen, battling through a precarious obstacle course, a rooftop game of whack-a-mole and a series of precision driving stunts performed by renowned Singapore stunt driver, Jason Tan.

Goggles were fitted and customised with two Samsung Galaxy Note 5s – the first device streamed real-time video footage of the challenger’s environments via Singtel’s tri-band 4G+ network and relayed to the second, which served as the challenger’s eyes. Transmission of the images had to be instantaneous for each challenger to accomplish their extreme task.

The success of the challenges hinged on the overall performance of the Singtel mobile network: low latency, high speed, data capacity, and far-reaching coverage. The Singtel network delivered on all accounts and the challengers accomplished their tasks without a hitch.

Press Release – BlackBerry PRIV Now Runs On Android Marshmallow

Singapore – April 27, 2016 – BlackBerry Limited (NASDAQ: BBRY; TSX: BB), a global leader in secure mobile communications, has released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow (M) mobile operating system for PRIV, the first-ever BlackBerry smartphone fully powered by Android. PRIV with Android M is coming soon to major carriers offering the smartphone. Existing PRIV users will be able to upgrade to Android M by downloading the software update on their device.

Android Marshmallow on PRIV brings users more ways to improve their mobile security by providing new opportunities to monitor and control privacy with its unique DTEK app. Users will obtain greater productivity through enhancements to the BlackBerry keyboard, BlackBerry Hub, BlackBerry launcher and battery performance. Updates to the BlackBerry camera will foster their creativity.

“PRIV by BlackBerry is the most secure Android device in the market and we continue to find ways to further enhance users’ security and privacy by adding new features with the Marshmallow operating system update,” ‎said John Chen, Executive Chairman and CEO, BlackBerry.

Raising the Standard for Privacy and Security

Building on BlackBerry’s legacy of security and keeping customer data private, DTEK by BlackBerry has been updated to empower users with more ways to monitor and control their privacy – better protecting PRIV from malware, hacks and data breaches.

  • Customised Personal Data Permissions – Apps demand access to personal data, even when it’s not necessary for the app to function properly. DTEK gives the power back to users to control what to share and when. Turn permissions off at any time and still continue to use the app.
  • Improved Notification Settings – Users will only be shown notification controls for sensors that a given app has specifically requested access to. For example, if an application does not request microphone it will not appear in the list.
  • S/MIME Support – The new S/MIME feature in BlackBerry Hub adds another level of security by allowing users to digitally sign and encrypt their emails.

Enhanced BlackBerry Keyboard

The BlackBerry Keyboard has been updated to provide better predictive typing, accuracy, and control.

  • More Emoji – Users now have access to over 200 new and updated emojis.
  • New Gesture Typing – The new swipe
capability allows users to slide their fingers from key to key to enter words on the virtual and/or physical keyboard.
  • Enhanced Word Prediction – Better word predictions anticipate the next word based on where users place their fingers on keys. Predictive typing now also learns words with numbers and provides better name suggestions based on a user’s contacts.
  • Better Cursor Control – Activate “Cursor Control” mode on the physical keyboard
for easier positioning and control. Tapping a key on the physical keyboard more accurately places the focus cursor on screen.

Know What You Want, When You Want

Customised notifications to better organise apps and manage productivity with a touch of a button.

  • Mute Indicator – Users can now see the phone’s mute status at a glance via the floating phone indicator that appears when a call is active. Green for when call is active and not muted, yellow for when a call is active and currently muted.
  • New Apps in BlackBerry Hub – Staying connected with friends has never been simpler. Now view notifications from app favorites Instagram, Skype, Slack and Pinterest
directly in BlackBerry Hub to easily manage all messages in one place.
  • Updated BlackBerry Launcher – Better organise apps and widgets into Recent, Personal, and Work sections. Pop-up Widgets are now turned on by default for new users. Set a default home screen, delete a home screen, and remove apps with a flick.

More Battery Life

Get even more out of PRIV with updates to further improve the battery life. When PRIV is at rest, Doze automatically puts the device into a sleep state to increase standby battery life. The App Standby feature will keep infrequently used apps from impacting the battery life.

Engage Your Creative Side

Added tools help customers capture the perfect image with ease and add their own creative flair.

  • Capture Professional and Cinematic Quality Videos – Record videos at 24fps in 4k, 1080p or 720p, for high-quality footage to share on social media.
  • Slow Motion Video* – Capture smooth slow motion video with the PRIV’s camera that’s up to four times slower. Capture video at 120 fps, which plays back smoothly at 30 fps. The slow motion effect can be applied after taking the video and can be applied to all or any portion of the video.

* Audio is not enabled for slow-motion video at this time.

Press Release – LeEco Leads “Negative Profit for Hardware” Era with Cross-category Launch of CDLA Superphones, TV, EV and VR

le(April 21, 2016, Beijing) On April 20, LeEco held a grand cross-category product launch event at LeSports Center in Beijing, attended by 2,600 journalists and nearly 8,000 LeFans from around the world, where it launched unprecedentedly four new devices across four industries, including Le 2 Superphones, Super TV, Le VR and self-driving Super EV. The four devices belong to four industries yet have the same brain, the same nerve center and the same bloodline and share the same ecosystem.

LeEco holds a vision of an all-compassing ecotopia empowered by constant cross-industry synergistic integrations and shared with users and partners, according to Mr. Jia, LeEco founder and CEO of LeEco at the event. “Launching four smart device products across four industries at the same time is something that no other company in the world has ever tried,” he said. “This looks like a crazy thing to do, but it is actually part of our mission to build an ecosystem world. The world we envision and are moving towards is an all-encompassing world in which our users and partners are empowered to do self-enriching things passionately. Through ecosystem economy and innovation, LeEco is ushering in the exciting ecosystem technology or ET era.”

Le 2 is the world’s first flagship phone to support the LeEco-initiated Continual Digital Lossless Audio (CDLA) standard which is accredited by the Chinese Musicians Association and takes the music industry into the continual digital lossless audio era, representing the second offensive against iPhone.

The introduction of     the CDLA     standard is set     to start a     technology-driven ecosystem-empowered revolution in the music industry. In the past, it often took several years or even decades for a new technology or material to be commercially applied and made widely available due to barriers between industries and the resistance from the vested interests. This pattern has been broken by LeEco’s vertical integration model which crosses the boundaries of innovation and takes down industry barriers to introduce and apply the latest technologies quickly. LeEco plans to promote the new standard in the industry and make the stunning audio experience available to more users.

That is one small step for LeEco, but one giant leap for the music industry. The triple industry revolution triggered by the introduction of the new technology provides eloquent testimony to the power of LeEco’s vertically integrated open closed-loop model. Leading Chinese musician Wang Feng announced that his audio equipment start-up Fiil will adopt the standard and release LeEco customized Type-C headphones.

“The introduction of the CDLA standard is an epoch-making event for the digital lossless audio experience,” said Liu Yuan, Vice President of Chinese Musicians Association. “We are glad to accredit it and hope that there will be more highly influential figures like Mr. Wang Feng and Mr. Jia Yueting to make bold audio innovations and attempts and bring even finer audio experiences to people.”

The Le 2 series is available in three variants: Le 2, Le 2Pro and Le Max2. While continuing the first generation’s popular features such as boltless exterior design, bezeless display, Type-C, and metal unibody, the second-generation series is thinner with guaranteed performance and a longer battery life and even more aesthetically appealing in every detail and as a whole. In particular, it radically does away with the 3.5mm earphone jack to provide users with the revolutionary Type-C digital lossless audio experience, breaking a paradigm that has been unchanged in the earphone industry for three decades and ushering the music phone industry into the CDLA era.

The flagship Le 2Pro, treated with a three-level anodic oxidation process for the first time in the industry, gets a new refresh with new bezeless ID 3.0 screen in infinite design to provide a

completely immersive visual experience. The three-level anodic oxidation process is the result of ten months of intensive R&D efforts with a total investment of more than RMB 20 million, including personnel, material and equipment costs. The top-of-the-line Le Max2 continues Le Max’s symmetrical design in the unique “dopamine red” created by applying color psychology insights to be emotionally appealing and pleasing to the eye. The power and volume buttons are also ingeniously designed and masterly crafted. Le Max2 is also among the world’s first smartphones to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and the world’s first commercially available metal-body phone to offer the ultrasonic fingerprint scanning feature.

The Le 2 Superphones are still offered at a negative profit for hardware as LeEco continues to promote the hardware freebie model in a bid to advocate an all-new ecosystem consumption pattern and usher the industry into the ecosystem era. A total of 1 million units of the Le 2 series will officially become available at 10:00 a.m. on April 26, with Le 2 debuting on LeMall.com and JD.com, Le 2Pro on LeMall.com and Tmall.com, and Le Max 2 on LeMall.com, JD.com and Tmall.com. Le 2 is priced at RMB 1099, Le 2Pro at 1499 and Le Max2 at 2099.

During the launch event, LeEco also unveiled its fourth-generation Super TV lineup – Super 4

X50 Pro (RMB 2,999), Super 4 X50 (RMB 2,499) and Super 4 X50 CSL Edition (RMB 2,699). All the three products are offered at prices below their mass production cost prices with subsidy from the larger LeEco ecosystem to lead the TV industry to the “negative profit for hardware” era. Jia Yueting said that Le Super TV is a true ecosystem TV, with products in each generation setting new benchmarks in specifications and performance and delivering satisfying experience and meeting operation needs in the whole lifecycle. With “super technology, comprehensive ecosystem and disrupting prices”, Super 4 X50 Pro, Super 4 X50 and Super 4 X50 CSL Edition will go on sale on LeMall.com and LePar stores on April 26.

The greatest highlight of the launch event was LeSEE’s first self-driving concept car.

LeSEE co-founder and global vice president Ding Lei gave an introduction to the LeSEE concept car which has an immediate “Internet feel”, with a super-cool ultra-size LED display on the front to display vehicle status. Positioned as an intelligent Internet car, it can drive and learn autonomously with extensive novel functions including face recognition, emotion recognition, environment recognition and road recognition and has received 804 patents worldwide. LeEco has applied for over 10,000 patents worldwide which span nine areas including phone, TV, car, EUI, VR and cloud, demonstrating the power of innovation based on ecosystem synergy.

During the event, Jia Yueting and Ding Lei demonstrated the self-driving function of the LeSEE concept car, using a Superphone to control the car remotely, with its state-of-the-art intelligent connectivity package being highly praised by the audience including VIP guests such as Liu Yonghao, chairman of New Hope Group. Liu Yonghao expressed on site his intent to become the first LeSEE owner in the world. Ding Lei disclosed that the ecosystem-empowered intelligent Internet car will be showcased at Auto China 2016 to be held five days later.

In addition, LeEco also released its latest EUI 5.8 OS which achieves historically nine-camera live video streaming, representing a giant step forward from the 3-camera live video streaming introduced at last year’s 4/14 launch event. Speaking of the 3-camera live streaming, Jia Yueting said then that it would be difficult for Apple to introduce a similar thing even within two years. “Many of our innovations bred within the LeEco ecosystem, as represented by 9-camera live streaming, multi-desktop, voice control and intelligent mobility, are unprecedented in the industry,” said Jia Yueting. “However, it’s not our intent to always go alone on the path of innovation, but we also look forward to communicating with the industry for common development. But LeEco’s model has been often misunderstood and even sneered as doing only model innovations rather than technological and product innovations. The fact is that technological innovation is an integral part of our ecosystem innovations. We look beyond competing on specific points but aim to lead the entire industry comprehensively and give utterance to our voices. Today, I throw down the gauntlet, offering as gifts a whole lineup of our top-of-the-line products, including LeSEE Super EV, to any company in the industry to deliver 9-camera live streaming or similar experience and productize and commercialize it within one year.”

The 4/20 “Ecosystem without Borders” launch event set a number of records. It achieved for the first time global VR live streaming, making it possible for over 1,000 journalists and countless LeFans, including those from North America, India and Hong Kong, to witness the event in a lifelike setting in real time. At the event, LeEco’s new VR product designed to work perfectly with Superphones also made its debut, providing a fascinating immersive experience to users.

The event was not only the world’s first VR-enabled but also the world’s first interactive live-cast launch event, introducing the all-new “live lottery” launch event model. The 4/20 launch event was broadcast live on nearly 100 online video sites and became the world’s first product launch to be live-streamed on Facebook which is one of the cloud sharing distribution channels of LeEco, setting a new record.

Press Release – OPPO DEBUTS SELFIE-FOCUSED OPPO R9 WITH 16MP FRONT CAMERA

  • 16MP front-facing camera with custom sensor and pixel-arrangement technology to capture photos in any lighting conditions.
  • Intelligent fingerprint recognition unlocks phone within 0.2 seconds.
  • New-look ColorOS 3.0 promises smoother User Experience and faster App startup time.

Singapore, 22 April 2016 – The ever-evolving smartphone brand, OPPO, is due to release the R9 on 30 April 2016 on local shores. The phone will carry the legacy of stunning design and superb performance that has come to define the popular R series.

The OPPO R9 improves on all of the strengths of previous entries from the R series, featuring powerful hardware, an eye-catching design and OPPO’s patented, industry-leading low-voltage VOOC Flash Charge technology. It also introduces a brand-new technology in OPPO’s arsenal: The Hi-light Camera, which ensures that users can take clear, bright and colourful selfies in any lighting conditions.

OPPO R9

A Beauty to See and to Hold

The R9 carries on the stylish metallic appearance of its predecessor the R7, while shaving off even more weight from its predecessor. The R9’s measures at 151.8 x 74.3 x 6.6mm, weighing a modest 145g. OPPO’s commitment to innovative design means that the 5.5-inch AMOLED display is accompanied by a bezel that is barely noticeable, measuring only an incredible 1.66mm.

The OPPO R9 has ultra-thin 1.66 mm bezels

Drawing inspiration from snow-covered mountain ridges, OPPO designers gave the R9 a metallic light-catching edge that shows off the phone’s flowing lines. Not only increasing the style ante, the R9’s edges display a clear understanding of ergonomics by perfectly conforming to the contours of the hand to give the R9 an effortless ‘Comfort Grip’.

Comfort Grip

Hi-light Camera: You in the Best Light

The phone’s defining feature, the R9’s 16 MP front-facing camera is built to capture the perfect selfie. The device is fitted with OPPO’s new Hi-light Camera, allowing it to capture more light

to ensure bright and clear selfies even in low-light conditions. Paired with the new Selfie Panorama feature for group photos and Beautify 4.0, the OPPO R9 is the perfect companion for taking and sharing quality shots on social media platforms.

The OPPO R9 features a custom-built Hi-light Camera

The 16MP front-facing camera isn’t all just about high-pixel counts. The R9’s unique strength in front-facing shots lies in its custom-built sensor, co-developed with Samsung to maximize image quality through pixel arrangement.

The 16MP front-facing camera isn’t all just about high-pixel counts. The R9’s unique strength in front-facing shots lies in its custom-built sensor, co-developed with Samsung to arrange pixels to maximize image quality.

While common photo-enhancing technology confines itself to software-based processing algorithms, OPPO has optimized the arrangement of pixels on the sensor itself to ensure clear, bright and colourful images. Meanwhile, a large f/2.0 aperture increases the amount of light that enters the camera and ISOCELL technology works to prevent “crosstalk” – a phenomenon wherein light spills from one of the sensor’s light-detecting elements to another and muddies the final image.

The R9’s Hi-light Camera is up to four times more sensitive than standard cameras, has twice the dynamic range and captures shots with four times less noise, compared to cameras without the technology. As a result, the Hi-light Camera produces exceptionally vivid images, even in low-light, back-lit and night-time photography.

To ensure a brilliant photography experience, OPPO has also upgraded the R9’s photo-processing algorithms. The Beautify 4.0 feature is optimized to capture selfies with bright, clear skin, and beautifully defined facial contours.

The new Selfie Panorama feature, perfect for capturing group photos makes its debut with the R9. With a few turns of the wrist, users can take extra-wide 120-degree front-facing photos, as the R9 seamlessly combines three photos and ensures that the whole party makes it into the shot.

Meanwhile, the 13 MP rear shooter is fast, steady and clear, letting users do justice to all of their colorful moments. The OPPO R9’s MediaTek Helio P10 2.0GHz, eight-core, 64-bit processor also comes equipped with the world’s first TrueBright image signal processor (ISP) engine, for enhanced colour resolution and detail.

Smooth, Fast and Free: New ColorOS 3.0 and 4G Dual-SIM

The OPPO R9 cruises through multitasking with the MediaTek Helio P10 and 4 GB RAM, rounding out the package with 64 GB of storage space, which can be expanded by an additional 128 GB.

Adding to the smooth and flexible user experience is the smart SIM slot design, which offers a Nano-SIM slot, as well as an adaptable second slot that can accept either a second Nano-SIM or a microSD card for expanded memory. Both card slots support 4G and VoLTE HD voice calls.

Newly designed ColorOS 3.0

The R9 is the first OPPO phone to come equipped with the all-new ColorOS 3.0. With a flat, simple design language, ColorOS 3.0 has a tidy and refreshing new look, and significantly reduces the phone’s built-in image library for increased efficiency. App startup time has also been boosted by 25% compared to ColorOS 2.1.

Fast, Convenient, Secure: VOOC Flash Charge and Smart Fingerprint Recognition

OPPO’s exclusive VOOC Flash Charge technology continues in the R9, reaching a 70% charge after just half an hour of flash charging.

OPPO’s VOOC Flash Charge Adapter

What sets VOOC above other fast-charging technologies is its low-voltage approach to the problem. By adhering to the standard smartphone charging voltage of 5V, VOOC keeps the phone’s temperature low during charging, protecting the longevity of the battery and phone internals, and even allowing the user to simultaneously use their phone while they fast-charge, a function that no competitor can offer.

More Than a Payment Service

A secure and easy-to-use mobile payment service, Samsung Pay can be used to make purchases almost anywhere that credit and debit cards are accepted.

  • SIMPLE: To make a payment on Samsung Pay, consumers simply need to swipe up on their compatible Samsung smartphone to bring up the last transacted credit or debit card, scan their fingerprint and make payment. It’s that easy!
  • SAFE: Samsung Pay uses three levels of security to enable secure payments – fingerprint authentication, tokenisation and Samsung KNOX. Each transaction uses an encrypted digital token to replace user’s personal payment information and payments can only be authorised with approved fingerprint or PIN. Meantime, Samsung’s industry-leading KNOX security platform monitors malicious software and activities on user’s device for added security and protection.
  • ALMOST ANYWHERE: Samsung Pay is the only mobile payment solution that lets consumers pay almost anywhere credit and debit cards are accepted. By incorporating Samsung’s proprietary Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology, together with Near Field Communication (NFC), Samsung Pay will be compatible with the majority of existing and new payment terminals, allowing users to pay with their compatible Samsung smartphone almost anywhere2 that allows payment by swiping or tapping a credit or debit card.
