Singapore, 18 January 2017 – The Singapore Motorshow concluded another successful run at the 2017 event with a turnout of more than 47,000 people attending the event at the Suntec Convention and Exhibition Centre between 12 to 15 January, 2017. This year’s visitors were treated to a display of more than 200 cars from 28 brands.


Organised by the Motor Traders Association of Singapore (MTA), this year’s Singapore Motorshow saw an exciting showcase of over 20 new car launches and the return of all-time favourite Russ Swift along with his breath-taking stunt-driving performance sponsored by Subaru. The event also featured special virtual reality (VR) experiences for attendees, for the first time.

“War and Peace: Miniatures 2017” By NUS Symphony Orchestra & Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music

NUSSO will be collaborating with Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music to put up a performance of specially curated pieces to showcase brilliant young musicians, War and Peace: Miniatures 2017. Members of the public are invited to come and listen to the youth musician’s new interpretations of some of the most popular and beloved musical narratives throughout history.  (Free Admission) 

The team will be performing one of Singapore’s homegrown, and immensely talented young composer Peter Gale’s Space Movie Other pieces include a stunning harp duet, performing The Rain of Castamere & Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold; a percussion quartet performing the dazzling Fractalia; Holst’s Mars, (the Bringer of War) will be performed by NUSSO’s talented brass section. Many other well-loved pieces include Overture in C Major Op.24, String Quartert No.3 Mvt 1, Sweet Dreams and Dancing by The Streams, and String Quarter No.1 Mvt 1. NVIDIA, AUDI Partner, Aim to Put AI cars on road by 2020

SINGAPORE — January 5, 2017 — NVIDIA (stock quote: NVDA) and Audi (stock quote: NSU) today shifted their decade-long partnership into high gear, announcing that they are collaborating to put advanced AI cars on the road starting in 2020.


Speaking at the opening keynote at CES, NVIDIA founder and CEO Jen-Hsun Huang, joined on stage by Audi of America President Scott Keogh, said future Audi car models will use deep learning to tackle the complexities of driving.


The first phase of this new collaboration focuses on NVIDIA DRIVE PX, an AI platform for selfdriving cars, which uses trained AI neural networks to understand the surrounding environment, and determine a safe path forward.

“NVIDIA is pioneering the use of deep learning AI to revolutionise transportation,” said Huang. “Audi’s adoption of our DRIVE computing platform for AI cars will accelerate the introduction of next-generation autonomous vehicles, moving us closer to a future of higher driving safety and new mobility services.”


“Audi drivers know the pinnacle of performance and technology. In our mutual pursuit for safer roads, the partnership between Audi and NVIDIA will expand to deep learning and artificial intelligence to bring higher automation onto the road more quickly,” said Keogh.


Outfitted with a DRIVE PX 2 and running NVIDIA DriveWorks software, the Q7 uses deep neural networks – specifically, NVIDIA PilotNet, which recognises and understands its changing environment while driving safely. The course will be modified during the demonstration, and features a variety of road surfaces, with and without lane markings, and a simulated construction zone requiring a detour.


Huang also highlighted how AI will anticipate the driver’s needs – driving to the office in the morning and home at night, automatically opening and closing the garage door, and adjusting the climate to the individual’s preferences, as well as being able to understand and respond to requests in a natural conversational language.


NVIDIA and Audi first appeared together at CES seven years ago and announced a technology partnership that has steadily expanded. The results include the award-winning Audi MMI navigation and the Audi virtual cockpit, currently available across a wide range of the automaker’s sedans, SUVs and sports cars. In the coming months, Audi will roll out its new A8, the world’s first Level 3 automated vehicle with its Traffic Jam Pilot system, powered by zFAS, which integrates NVIDIA hardware and software.

Filipino Beauty Queens Take the Crown in the Finale of The Amazing Race Asia Season 5

Arriving first at the pit stop in Bali with just minutes to spare, Maggie Wilson-Consunji and Parul Shah survived six countries, 12 cities and over 12,000 kilometres, beating 10 other teams to claim the ultimate USD100,000 cash prize.

“We warmly congratulate Maggie and Parul on winning this season of The Amazing Race Asia. It was our toughest race yet with several surprising twists and some extremely challenging conditions. All 22 racers should be super proud of what they achieved during their journey. (Video Media Brief) Christmas Wonderland 2016 at Gardens By The Bay! This Year will be Bigger and More Exciting!

Christmas Wonderland returns to transform Gardens by the Bay into a festive playground this December. Organised by Blue Sky Events and supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, Christmas Wonderland 2016 takes place from 2 December to 1 January 2017, from 3.30pm to 11pm daily.

This year, Christmas Wonderland returns  for its third edition at almost twice the size. Visitors to the fair can embark on a festive journey and marvel at the Italian luminarie – Sculptures of Light illuminating the fairground, which has been expanded to 57,000sqm from last year’s 35,000sqm. New experiences await visitors of all ages, from wintry fun at the Ice Palace, to the local debut of the Hi-5 Funtastic House to a magical forest of Christmas trees. Visitors can also look forward to a bigger festive shopping and dining experience, more carnival games and curated festive performances for a celebration at home like no other.

“The first two editions have drawn visitors from all over Singapore and beyond, attracting over 2.5 million visitors. This year, we have expanded the event grounds and introduced a series of new attractions and a wider variety of activities. Taking into account the infrastructure within and around the event grounds, this year’s Christmas Wonderland will be ticketed to better manage the daily capacity to ensure the quality of the overall visitor experience is enhanced,” said Ms Sarah Martin, Director of Blue Sky Events.

Admission tickets starts from S$4 and can only be purchased online at www.christmaswonderland.sg from 28 October 2016. Each paying adult can bring in up to three children under 0.9m free of charge. A child above 0.9m requires a ticket. Visitors must purchase their tickets prior to visiting the event, as tickets will not be available for sale on-site.

Something different from last year. Fans of Australian musical group Hi-5 can also look forward to The Hi-5 Funtastic House, which will make its Singapore debut at Christmas Wonderland 2016.

Additional charges for some attractions within the event grounds as well as to the conservatories apply. Selected capacity-controlled attractions will be available for pre-bookings online.

TAG Heuer is building Singapore’s first ever floating tennis platform ahead of the WTA Finals in Singapore. Stretching out 35 by 17 metres across the water at Clifford Pier, and weighing up to 10 cars, the floating court will be unveiled on October 22 in what is promised to be an evening of sporting glamour and a key event on the fringe of the tournament.

The floating court will take 10 days to build and install, and will be the stage for an exhibition game between two tennis icons who have played the sport at the highest levels – five-time world number one and TAG Heuer ambassador Maria Sharapova, and former tennis player Michael Chang. Guests and the public can get up close to the action from the deck at Clifford Pier, while all along the bay, the floating court will offer a visual spectacle.

Hailed by tennis legend John McEnroe as “one of the greatest competitors our sport has ever seen,” Sharapova, who is currently in second place on the WTA leaderboard coming into the Finals, will be looking to bounce back from a forearm injury to register her first win in Singapore. She will arrive at the floating court in style, on a boat.

Chang, who is now coach to top Japanese player Kei Nishikori, still holds the record for being the youngest Grand Slam winner when he won the French Open in 1989 at the age of 17. He will take on Sharapova in a friendly mixed-doubles game. They will be paired with 19-year-old Angeline Devi Devanthiran and 17-year-old Shaheed Alam who both represented Singapore for the first time at the 28th SEA Games in June. There will also be a Charity Rally where TAG Heuer will donate $100 per rally in the longest rally played.

In addition, the event will see eight-year-old Joshua Wong’s wish come true. The young tennis fan suffers from non-Hodgkin lymphoma and TAG Heuer has partnered Make-A-Wish Foundation to realise Joshua’s wish to meet a real-life sports star. He will present the TAG Heuer limited edition SG50 Aquaracer to Sharapova on court in the presence of hundreds of guests.

The party will continue indoors with press conferences with Sharapova and Chang, as well as a TAG Heuer showcase, live music and other activities.
