Singapore (23 January 2015) – More than 52,000 visitors excluding children came to experience more than 150 cars on display at the recently held Singapore Motorshow 2015.
The Singapore Motorshow, making a return after six years, was held at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre from January 15-18, 2015. Organised by Motor Traders Association of Singapore (MTA), some of the key highlights for this year’s show included more than 20 new cars being showcased in Singapore, three concept cars and a Russ Swift precision driving performance brought in by Subaru.
“We have certainly been pleasantly surprised by the number of visitors to the Singapore Motorshow. Breaking our record for the 2008 show which was held over ten days is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved,” said Glenn Tan, President of the Motor Traders Association of Singapore.
“We also made the effort to make this year’s Motorshow more family-oriented by working with our various sponsors and exhibitors to bring in different activities and they have certainly paid off.
We saw families enjoying themselves at the driving simulators and the stunt driving performances by Russ Swift were always full.”
Visitors to Singapore Motorshow 2015 also had the chance to meet MediaCorp artistes from Channel 8’s drama Good Luck (百岁大吉), Channel U’s Let It Go (分手快乐), Suria’s Selamat Pagi SG and The Interns. Hosts of popular programs such as The 5 Show also made special appearance and children were treated to an appearance by their favourite characters, Ollie and Cherry from Okto.
Visitors were also entertained by the many stage performances by Campus Superstar winner Bonnie Loo, Project Superstar Alumni (Tan Yan Hua, Aeden Kang and Germaine Ng), Tay Kewei and Vasantham’s Annamalai Casts and Friends hosts (Karthik, Udaya and Varman). They were also treated to special performances by winners of MediaCorp’s talent show winners – Alfred Sim, Farisha Ishak and Shabir Tabare Alam – who sung the 3 finalist songs from MediaCorp’s songwriting competition, “The Gift of Song”.
MediaCorp Chief Commercial Officer Jack Lim said: “MediaCorp is pleased to have the opportunity to partner MTA in bringing back the Singapore Motorshow. For car lovers, it was a fantastic show of performance cars, mainstream hits and game-changers. There were also celebrity appearances, live entertainment and loads of family fun. All in, something for everyone and the turnout has been every encouraging. We look forward to staging the show with MTA in the future.”
One lucky visitor to Singapore Motorshow 2015 won himself a brand new Subaru Impreza through a lucky draw conducted by MTA in collaboration with Subaru.
The Singapore Motorshow 2015 also saw a charitable act as one of the sponsors, HL Bank, donated the proceeds from selling mineral water at the event to TOUCH Seniors Activity Centre. HL Bank managed to raise more than S$37,000 and it will be used by TOUCH to run programmes benefiting some 790 seniors.
Official sponsors for the Singapore Motorshow 2015 are AIG (Official Insurer), HL Bank (Official Bank), MediaCorp (Official Media Partner) and Shell Helix (Official Automotive Lubricants).
