Sports personalities join in to encourage active lifestyles amongst families
(Singapore, 24th October 2009) – Nintendo Wii is proud to present Wii Sports Resort this weekend (24 and 25th October 2009) at Ngee Ann City, Civic Plaza. The family targeted event signifies the next chapter in the Wii Sports phenomenon.
To promote sporting activity between families and friends, sports personalities participating include Singapore Sportswoman of the Year 2009, National Bowler Jasmine Yeong-Nathan and her brother Jason Yeong-Nathan as well as fellow teammate Remy Ong from the Singapore Bowling National Team. Aide Iskandar, former national captain for Singapore Lions, will be trying out the various sports games with his family.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to try out the sports games. Bowling with Wii Sports Resort requires accuracy similar to the real sport. This is definitely a great game for family and friends to play with at anytime. The variety of resort-themed sports games will keep me and my brother entertained for hours as we continue to keep ourselves active,” said Singapore Sportswoman of the Year 2009, Jasmine Yeong-Nathan.
Wii Sports Resort contains a vast amount of content designed to provide both new and veteran players with fun experiences. The game features an easy pick-up-and-play mechanics that allows players of all ages who have never played any video game before to be able to enjoy. By playing the game together, a family can transform their living room into a Sports Resort as they enjoy the different sports where up to 4 players can play at the same time.
12 sports are featured in Wii Sports Resort: archery, basketball, bowling, golf, table tennis, Swordplay, Air Sports, canoeing, cycling, Frisbee®, Power Cruising and wakeboarding. The new features of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk™ controllers allow players to enjoy greater flexibility. In archery, players hold the Wii Remote vertically like a bow while drawing back the Nunchuk. In Frisbee, players motion with the Wii Remote as though they were tossing a real Frisbee. And while playing wakeboarding, players hold the Wii Remote sideways as though they were hanging onto the end of a tether behind a speedboat.
Sports Resort introduces a new era of motion controls with 12 resort-themed sports enhanced by the included Wii MotionPlus™ accessory. This accessory attaches to the base of the Wii Remote™ controller to bring exacting precision to games that are specially designed for it. Wii MotionPlus recognizes the slightest twist or turn of the Wii Remote controller to bring players deeper into their games. Wii Sports Resort leverages this technology as players escape to a virtual resort and experience all the fun activities of the island setting.
Wii MotionPlus transforms the game-play experience and sets a new industry standard in the motion-based gaming movement that Nintendo pioneered.
