Press Release – LeEco hits new online sales record of ₹ 78 Crore with Le 2 & Le Max2

Bangalore / New Delhi, June 28, 2016:  LeEco garners Rs 78.6 crore by achieving sales orders of over 61,000 units of its next generation Superphones, Le 2 and Le Max2, in its flash sale campaign on both LeMall.com India and Flipkart, updating the industry records set by itself a few months ago. The total registration reached over 6 lakh within 8 days. LeEco is also the first brand which released two flagship phones with Qualcomm processors in the same day.

The records were achieved through two combined channels, LeEco’s own marketplace ecommerce platform, LeMall.com India, which was just launched on June 8th, and Flipkart.

Atul Jain, COO – Smart Electronics, LeEco India, said, “We are humbled to see yet another stupendous Flash Sale record in a row. The entire LeEco family is overwhelmed seeing the response from our users. This time we have introduced world’s first Digital Lossless audio standard (CDLA). This will bring an unparalleled audio experience to our superfans thereby ushering in an era of lossless music in India and the globe. This is going to become the new industry standard. We promise to live up to our Superfans’ expectation by bringing more breakthrough technologies, stronger comprehensive ecosystem, and disruptive pricing”.

The unprecedented responses from buyers were expected given four compelling reasons LeEco brought to the smartphone market in India: lossless music with CDLA standard, Supertainment with a complete content ecosystem and membership program, stylish design and unprecedented features with cool technologies, and all these three coming at a disruptive price offer by LeEco.

The record making numbers of more than 61,000 orders received from buyers only vindicates the point that LeEco’s Superphones popularity has been soaring in an unprecedented rate.

The total sales number in the flash sale also points to the growing craze for Lossless music. To catalyze this CDLA (Continual Digital Lossless Audio) standard adoption, LeEco has made a handsome investment of Rs 200 million. In the first flash sale of its Superphones Le 2 and Le Max2 that was held today (June 28), the internet technology conglomerate gave away a free CDLA earphone worth Rs. 1990 to all Le 2 and Le Max2 buyers. LeEco is the world’s first company that created the type-C CDLA earphone, replacing the traditional 3.5mm headphone port and creating a lossless audio experience to end users.

The Supertainment program of LeEco is something that is resistless given the popularity of entertainment programs in India. LeEco is now working with big names like Eros Now, YuppTV and Hungama in India. Through LeEco’s Membership program, users can get access to a collection of 2000+ movies, inclusive of premieres from Hollywood & Bollywood. LeEco membership program also provides 3000+ hours of curated shows, 150+ live TV channels and 3.5 million songs of users’ choices. LeEco takes the lead in offering 1.9 million songs with lossless audio, bringing the users’ audio experience to a brand new height.

Another reason that makes LeEco Superphone hard to resist is its stylish design and cool features and technology. With stylish unibody metal designs, Le 2 is powered by the Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset, making the phone the first one in India to adopt such high-end and the most powerful Octa-Core CPU, which performs 21% faster than Snapdragon 800 and is also miles ahead of Snapdragon 808. Le 2 provides a 16MP rear camera and 8MP front camera. The image quality is visibly better with vibrant and true-to-life colours. With technologies like PDAF, Closed Loop and other ground-breaking technologies, people can catch clear pictures in moving and unfavourable conditions.

Powered by the world’s most powerful processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, Le Max2 features the high performance combination of 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM, pushing the limits of the industry to new heights. With a RAM three times that of the iPhone 6s Plus, Le Max2 gives 40% faster performance than most other models.

Le Max2 features a 5.7 inch screen in 2K Super Retina Display, the best display for itself and for VR equipment. Its 21MP rear camera and 8MP front camera both come with the blazingly fast PDAF standard and F 2.0 aperture, which protects the images from smear and dim light. The cameras on Le Max2 shot pictures with great clarity thanks to improved components or technologies like 6-layer of lens, PDAF, Closed Loop, optical image stabilization, Dual HDR and Dual-tone flash and so on.

Le 2, the 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM combination Superphone, comes at a compelling price of Rs 11,999. Le Max2, the 4GB+32GB model is priced at a disruptive price of Rs 22,999, and for the high-end 6GB RAM and 64 GB ROM combination the price is at an irresistible Rs 29,999.

For people who missed June 28th flash sale, they can expect the upcoming opportunity very soon. LeEco’s 2nd flash sale for Le 2 and Le Max2 will start on July 5th, and the registration commence from 4pm today (June 28).

During the July 5th flash sale of Le 2 and Le Max2, users can look forward to some amazing offers from both Flipkart and LeMall India:

  1. 10% cashback. (Details to come soon)
  2. Free CDLA Earphones worth Rs.1990
  3. Both Superphones include a one-year LeEco membership worth Rs 4900

BroadcastAsia 2016 Event – Ericsson’s Mobility Report Update on Singapore

Following up from the yesterday’s CommunicAsia 2016, we continue the tour in BroadcastAsia. This time we went to Ericsson’s booth. The media brief covered broadly on mobile usage and Internet of Things (IoT). For the benefits of Singapore media, they have provided highlights on Singapore’s mobility market.

Key points

  • Singapore leads South East Asia in both smartphone and mobile broadband subscriptions penetration, more than 100 percent and more than 140 percent respectively
  • Asia Pacific region is set to fuel growth with a staggering 1.7 billion new smartphone subscriptions, exceeding the total combined subscriptions from the rest of the world
  • IoT to overtake mobile phones as the largest category of connected devices by 2018

The latest edition of the Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) Mobility Report highlights Singapore and Asia Pacific’s leadership position in the adoption of smartphones, mobile broadband and Internet of Things (IoT) growth.

Singapore continues to lead in South East Asia in both smartphone and mobile broadband subscriptions population penetration, with more than 100 percent and more than 140 percent respectively, ahead of the South East Asia penetration level of around 40 percent and around 60 percent respectively for 2015.

Globally, mobile subscriptions are growing around three percent year-on-year and reached 7.4 billion in Q1 2016. Indonesia and Myanmar are identified as among the key surge markets in South East Asia, with an additional 5 million subscribers in each country for Q1 2016. Across Asia Pacific smartphone subscriptions will reach 1.7 million by 2021. By the end of 2015, only Singapore had a smartphone subscription penetration above 100 percent in South East Asia. In 2021, Singapore is expected to reach almost 130 percent smartphone subscription penetration.

Magnus Ewerbring, CTO Asia Pacific, Ericsson
Magnus Ewerbring, CTO Asia Pacific, Ericsson

This growth has, in turn, fueled a huge demand for rich content from subscribers, with YouTube now the second most popular app in Singapore, behind WhatsApp, and the number one app in Indonesia.

Before the smartphone revolution, most of the attention in mobile network operations was focused on managing voice coverage. Voice now constitutes less than five percent of mobile traffic. Users still expect good voice coverage, but they also expect good user experience when they access the internet through apps running on their smart devices. Singapore has the top result overall in South East Asia for highest cell-edge downlink speed and lowest latency.

The report also highlights the huge growth expected in IoT connected devices in Asia Pacific, which globally are expected to surpass mobile phone subscriptions by 2018. This will be driven by emerging applications and business models, and supported by falling device costs. Globally, IoT connected devices are expected to increase to close to 16 billion by 2021. Of this, Asia Pacific will be the region with the highest level of adoption, accounting for around five billion IoT connections.

Warren Chaisatien, IoT Marketer, Strategist & Technology Evangelist, Ericsson

IoT, which is a fundamental part of Singapore’s pioneering Smart Nation vision, will focus on two major segments – massive and critical connections. Massive IoT connections are characterized by high connection volumes, low cost, low energy requirements and small data traffic volumes – examples include smart buildings, transport logistics, smart meters and agriculture. Critical IoT connections are characterized by requirements for ultra-reliability and availability, with very low latency. These include traffic safety, autonomous cars, industrial applications, remote manufacturing and healthcare, including remote surgery.

Martin Wiktorin, Country Head for Singapore & Brunei, Ericsson,
Martin Wiktorin, Country Head for Singapore & Brunei, Ericsson,

Martin Wiktorin, Country Head for Singapore & Brunei, Ericsson, said: “This report highlights the exceptional growth of mobile broadband and smartphone technology in Singapore and across the region. It also demonstrates how IoT promises to change society in the next few years. A recent IDC study predicts that by 2019, we will see $1.3 trillion worth of investment being poured into IoT technology globally which will empower the digital transformation of all our lives, accelerating our progress towards becoming a truly Networked Society.”

Wiktorin continued, “Ericsson is excited to be at the forefront of this charge, with leadership in various aspects of IoT such as LTE and 5G, device-connected platforms and developing smart, sustainable cities.”

Press Release – Telstra expands specialist financial trading network to Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo

telstra logoTuesday, 31 May 2016, SINGAPORE: Today, Telstra has announced three new point-to-point routes directly connecting the Stock Exchanges of Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo as part of its Ethernet Private Line Express (EPLX) service, which offers some of the fastest services available on the market today for financial trading companies in Asia.

Matthew Lempriere, Telstra’s Head of Financial Markets, said EPLX utilised Telstra’s extensive submarine cable network to offer low latency connectivity for financial traders and these new routes added to the existing Telstra EPLX network connecting with financial markets in London, Chicago and Sydney.

“The EPLX Hong Kong to Singapore route will be the fastest service available on the market and in a world where firms need to be able to execute tens of thousands of trades every second, every fraction of a millisecond advantage of can matter,” said Mr Lempriere.

“We own the EAC-C2C submarine cable that runs directly between Hong Kong and Singapore, which we use to provide the EPLX service. Owning the underlying network not only gives us the ability to offer faster speeds, we have more operational flexibility to cost effectively scale up to meet customers’ demands.

“Network speed is critical, but reliability and flexibility are also increasingly important, especially as financial services companies themselves use digital technology to provide an ever more diverse set of products.

“Being the largest owner and operator of submarine cables in Asia, we can offer more diversity and redundancy to our customers and the ability to quickly identify and address any network issues. This makes EPLX attractive not only to financial traders but also cloud-based service providers and other organisations that need reliable, high-speed global connectivity for their mission-critical communications.”

“The combination of Asia’s emergence as the world’s economic engine room, the prevalence of ultra-high speed trading in financial markets, and Telstra’s unique cable infrastructure in the region and decades of experience in connecting customers across the Asia-Pacific makes this an exciting opportunity for Telstra. We are looking at adding more EPLX routes from Asia to North America by the end of 2016.”

EPL Express provides financial trading companies with a dedicated point-to-point service over the shortest routes between key financial centres to points-of-presence (PoPs) located in financial exchanges in these centres to minimise end-to-end transmission delays.

“Our customers are able to mitigate unnecessary risks with our comprehensive low latency Service Level Agreements and low Round Trip Delays, for example less than 30 milliseconds from Hong Kong to Singapore, and around 40 milliseconds from Hong Kong to Tokyo,” said Mr Lempriere.

“Telstra works with market leading partners in the financial technology space to provide end-to-end propositions from the network to the communications platform necessary for customers within the financial services industry to meet their business needs.”

Press Release – OPPO DEBUTS SELFIE-FOCUSED OPPO R9 WITH 16MP FRONT CAMERA

  • 16MP front-facing camera with custom sensor and pixel-arrangement technology to capture photos in any lighting conditions.
  • Intelligent fingerprint recognition unlocks phone within 0.2 seconds.
  • New-look ColorOS 3.0 promises smoother User Experience and faster App startup time.

Singapore, 22 April 2016 – The ever-evolving smartphone brand, OPPO, is due to release the R9 on 30 April 2016 on local shores. The phone will carry the legacy of stunning design and superb performance that has come to define the popular R series.

The OPPO R9 improves on all of the strengths of previous entries from the R series, featuring powerful hardware, an eye-catching design and OPPO’s patented, industry-leading low-voltage VOOC Flash Charge technology. It also introduces a brand-new technology in OPPO’s arsenal: The Hi-light Camera, which ensures that users can take clear, bright and colourful selfies in any lighting conditions.

OPPO R9

A Beauty to See and to Hold

The R9 carries on the stylish metallic appearance of its predecessor the R7, while shaving off even more weight from its predecessor. The R9’s measures at 151.8 x 74.3 x 6.6mm, weighing a modest 145g. OPPO’s commitment to innovative design means that the 5.5-inch AMOLED display is accompanied by a bezel that is barely noticeable, measuring only an incredible 1.66mm.

The OPPO R9 has ultra-thin 1.66 mm bezels

Drawing inspiration from snow-covered mountain ridges, OPPO designers gave the R9 a metallic light-catching edge that shows off the phone’s flowing lines. Not only increasing the style ante, the R9’s edges display a clear understanding of ergonomics by perfectly conforming to the contours of the hand to give the R9 an effortless ‘Comfort Grip’.

Comfort Grip

Hi-light Camera: You in the Best Light

The phone’s defining feature, the R9’s 16 MP front-facing camera is built to capture the perfect selfie. The device is fitted with OPPO’s new Hi-light Camera, allowing it to capture more light

to ensure bright and clear selfies even in low-light conditions. Paired with the new Selfie Panorama feature for group photos and Beautify 4.0, the OPPO R9 is the perfect companion for taking and sharing quality shots on social media platforms.

The OPPO R9 features a custom-built Hi-light Camera

The 16MP front-facing camera isn’t all just about high-pixel counts. The R9’s unique strength in front-facing shots lies in its custom-built sensor, co-developed with Samsung to maximize image quality through pixel arrangement.

The 16MP front-facing camera isn’t all just about high-pixel counts. The R9’s unique strength in front-facing shots lies in its custom-built sensor, co-developed with Samsung to arrange pixels to maximize image quality.

While common photo-enhancing technology confines itself to software-based processing algorithms, OPPO has optimized the arrangement of pixels on the sensor itself to ensure clear, bright and colourful images. Meanwhile, a large f/2.0 aperture increases the amount of light that enters the camera and ISOCELL technology works to prevent “crosstalk” – a phenomenon wherein light spills from one of the sensor’s light-detecting elements to another and muddies the final image.

The R9’s Hi-light Camera is up to four times more sensitive than standard cameras, has twice the dynamic range and captures shots with four times less noise, compared to cameras without the technology. As a result, the Hi-light Camera produces exceptionally vivid images, even in low-light, back-lit and night-time photography.

To ensure a brilliant photography experience, OPPO has also upgraded the R9’s photo-processing algorithms. The Beautify 4.0 feature is optimized to capture selfies with bright, clear skin, and beautifully defined facial contours.

The new Selfie Panorama feature, perfect for capturing group photos makes its debut with the R9. With a few turns of the wrist, users can take extra-wide 120-degree front-facing photos, as the R9 seamlessly combines three photos and ensures that the whole party makes it into the shot.

Meanwhile, the 13 MP rear shooter is fast, steady and clear, letting users do justice to all of their colorful moments. The OPPO R9’s MediaTek Helio P10 2.0GHz, eight-core, 64-bit processor also comes equipped with the world’s first TrueBright image signal processor (ISP) engine, for enhanced colour resolution and detail.

Smooth, Fast and Free: New ColorOS 3.0 and 4G Dual-SIM

The OPPO R9 cruises through multitasking with the MediaTek Helio P10 and 4 GB RAM, rounding out the package with 64 GB of storage space, which can be expanded by an additional 128 GB.

Adding to the smooth and flexible user experience is the smart SIM slot design, which offers a Nano-SIM slot, as well as an adaptable second slot that can accept either a second Nano-SIM or a microSD card for expanded memory. Both card slots support 4G and VoLTE HD voice calls.

Newly designed ColorOS 3.0

The R9 is the first OPPO phone to come equipped with the all-new ColorOS 3.0. With a flat, simple design language, ColorOS 3.0 has a tidy and refreshing new look, and significantly reduces the phone’s built-in image library for increased efficiency. App startup time has also been boosted by 25% compared to ColorOS 2.1.

Fast, Convenient, Secure: VOOC Flash Charge and Smart Fingerprint Recognition

OPPO’s exclusive VOOC Flash Charge technology continues in the R9, reaching a 70% charge after just half an hour of flash charging.

OPPO’s VOOC Flash Charge Adapter

What sets VOOC above other fast-charging technologies is its low-voltage approach to the problem. By adhering to the standard smartphone charging voltage of 5V, VOOC keeps the phone’s temperature low during charging, protecting the longevity of the battery and phone internals, and even allowing the user to simultaneously use their phone while they fast-charge, a function that no competitor can offer.

The OPPO R9 uses a 2,850 mAh lithium polymer battery, allowing for 14 hours and 5 minutes of constant heavy use, ensuring that the R9 keeps users cruising from morning to night.

Front-facing fingerprint recognition

The R9 is OPPO’s first phone to use front-facing fingerprint recognition. It’s able to recognize a wet or dry fingerprint to unlock the phone in only 0.2 seconds. The fingerprint recognition system can also learn over time, gradually refining its image of the user’s fingerprint and making for an increasingly efficient and smooth unlock process.

The R9 (S$649) in Gold (launching 30 April) and Rose Gold (launching in May) will be available from the following retailers:
