Review of Sudio Nivå – A Serious Contender In The True Wireless Earbuds Market

Remember my last article on Sudio Tre? We highlighted 2 potential improvements for Sudio Tre– Makes a truly wireless earphones and adds voice notification. This time, you have them all  in the Sudio Nivå

Sudio Nivå and Case Battery

Truly wireless

You can’t find a single wire on the product. Besides that, the Nivå is also much smaller, more portable and stylist than the Sudio Tre. Despite its small size, the performance of the Niva is not compromised. Slightly smaller than the size of the thumb, the Sudio Niva is able to last 3.5 hours on a full-charge and it could be extended to 17 hours with the case battery which is included in the purchase.

Both left and right earphones could be seemed as an individual unit that has its own power button. Once you turn on both sides, you receive the voice notification that both sides are connected. I have tried turning on only the right side and the earpiece still works fine. It could be a good hands-free device while driving.

Sound Quality and Isolation

Sudio has been working to improve the sound experience for the customers. Personally, I like the sound produced by Nivå. The bass is rich and strong but does not overpower the treble. The well-balance between the bass and treble gives a very pleasant listening experience especially under quiet indoor environment.

The Sudio Nivå is designed with the outdoor enthusiast in mind. The sweat-proof Nivå is shipped with 3 different size earbuds to ensure a suitable fit to user’s ears. Despite the product is not equipped with noise cancelling feature, the earbud does do a decent job in isolating the surrounding sound.

It is more than “sweat proof”!

Sudio claims that this product is sweat-proof. I was running out of idea on how to run a test on this. One day, I have “coincidentally” misplaced my Nivå in the small pocket of my running short and threw them into a washing machine! I manage to get them out before the completion of the washing cycle. It was soaked in the water for at least 20 minute and I did whatever I can to save them – to blow dry them under the fan throughout the night. Luckily, the product survives. I think this unintended experiment speaks a lot about the hardware of the earphones. However, my advice to all my readers out there – Please don’t try this on your earphones.

Competitive Price

The Sudio Nivå retails at SGD 165. Comparing to products with the similar specfication, the price is actually very competitive. On top of that, Sudio is giving a more attractive discount to TND readers. Those who use TND promocode “NEODIMENSION15” on Sudio’s Singapore online store will get 15% discount. On top of that, you get free shipping and one year warranty from Sudio.

Verdict

This is the best Sudio product I’ve ever used. I like it because the sound profile is very general and it just delivers across different music genre. It is a lifestyle product that meets the general needs of the market. Comparing to other products at the similar price range, Sudio Niva is definitely value-for-money once you have applied TND’s 15% discount code.

Garmin sets up Singapore as South-east Asia HQ for its consumer business

Singapore, February 7, 2017 — A familiar brand in Singapore, Garmin’s consumer products have been sold here through distributors since the early 1990s. As part of the brand’s strategic plan to strengthen their presence in the region, Garmin will now be directly managing the sales and marketing of its consumer business devices in the Southeast Asia and India region.

Singapore was selected as the regional headquarters for Garmin’s regional expansion because of the nation’s vibrant pro-business environment, political stability, centralised geography and strong infrastructure.

The company has appointed Mr. Engelhard (Al) Sundoro as Managing Director for the South Asia/ India Region since January 2017. Mr. Sundoro brings with him a wealth of experience having worked with Garmin International in America since 2007. Mr. Sundoro will manage Garmin’s consumer business in six South-east Asian countries (Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand) and India and its marine business in South-east Asia, China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and India.

“As a company, we need to be an enduring brand that consistently innovates. In order to do that, it is essential for us to be closer to our customers to understand what they need. Even as a global brand, Garmin sees each market differently as the customer needs in each region is diverse. Outside of US, China and Taiwan, it is a natural step for the brand to strengthen our presence in South-east Asia with Singapore as our headquarters as consumers here tend to be early adopters of technology,” said Mr. Al Sundoro, Managing Director for South Asia/ India Region.

Garmin has a strong foundation in engineering products for aviation and marine since 1989. With engineering a fundamental part of the brand’s DNA, innovation, precision and attention to details are ingrained in the products designed by the brand.

Aiming to engineer quality wearables to complement the daily active lifestyles of users, Garmin recently announced its partnership with EZ-Link to launch a special version of its vívosmart HR activity tracker with built-in NFC contactless payment smarts. Users can tap their fitness band to make payment for train and bus rides, cab rides and retail purchases in Singapore.

“Working with partners such as EZ-Link to make our products more meaningful to consumers in each locale is an example of what we want to do with our business here,” added Mr. Sundoro.

OVER 47,000 VISITORS AT SINGAPORE MOTORSHOW 2017

Singapore, 18 January 2017 – The Singapore Motorshow concluded another successful run at the 2017 event with a turnout of more than 47,000 people attending the event at the Suntec Convention and Exhibition Centre between 12 to 15 January, 2017. This year’s visitors were treated to a display of more than 200 cars from 28 brands.

Organised by the Motor Traders Association of Singapore (MTA), this year’s Singapore Motorshow saw an exciting showcase of over 20 new car launches and the return of all-time favourite Russ Swift along with his breath-taking stunt-driving performance sponsored by Subaru. The event also featured special virtual reality (VR) experiences for attendees, for the first time.

Singapore MotorShow 2016 opening address by Glenn Tan, President of the Motor Traders Association of Singapore.

“We’re encouraged to see a good crowd considering that many have said that this will be a challenging year for Singapore’s economy,” said Glenn Tan, President of the Motor Traders Association of Singapore. “It’s great to see the brands working together to present an iconic automotive event with new activities and launches that the people of Singapore can look forward to each year.”

“Despite smaller numbers this year on the weekdays, we had very solid turnouts on both Saturday and Sunday. Crowds packed our popular activities with sold-out shows at Russ Swift’s stunt performances, live radio shows, contests and lucky draws. We’re glad to see families and car lovers having a good time throughout the 4-day event and we’re committed to keep this momentum going for next year’s event.”

Singapore, June 2016 – Global technology leader Epson today announced another overseas training attachment to increase overseas development opportunities for local youth footballers. A group of six Under-14 (U-14) and Under-15 (U-15) players selected by both Epson Singapore and the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) are attending a week-long training attachment with prestigious J-League Club Matsumoto Yamaga FC from 12-20 June in Japan.

This trip is the second attachment to the J-League club initiated by Epson Singapore, as part of its three-year partnership deal with FAS inked in 2013, and the increase in the size of the attachment is a reflection of Epson Singapore’s continued commitment to the development of youths through sports, one of the leading tenets of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

The six National Football Academy (NFA) U-14 and U-15 players, made up of Marc Ryan Tan Wei Ming, Chua Zikos Vasileios Ming Xun, Ashley Yong Cheng Wai, Christian Chiang Moroni, Elijah Lim and Muhammad Nur Adam Bin Abdullah, were selected based on technical skills, discipline, maturity and passion. Two of the boys, Adam and Elijah, were also part of the original team of 3 U-14 players handpicked for the first attachment in June 2015.

Learning from previous trips, the latest attachment will see the youths receive more training, with the inclusion of personal coaching sessions by Yamaga’s coaching team, as well as participation in practice matches with their Japanese counterparts in order to improve their skills on the pitch. Off the pitch, the players will be able to observe Yamaga’s first team’s training session and also official matches of both the Club’s youth and first team in Alwin Stadium.

To provide a holistic experience, the boys will be staying in the Club’s dormitory during the attachment, and participate in an immersive tour of the local sights and attractions in Matsumoto and the surrounding region. In addition, the boys will also visit Epson’s headquarters in Suwa, Nagano Prefecture, Japan, where they will experience the company’s museum and see the latest in Epson’s wide range of products, including smart glasses and wearables under the company’s Moverio and Runsense labels.

“In order to bridge the gap in international exposure that our local youth footballers receive compared to their regional counterparts, Epson is proud to be able to facilitate the overseas attachment again this year. We have expanded the programme to include a larger contingent, and this latest regime will see the boys receive more training, based on feedback from both coaches and the boys last year. We hope to inspire and help nurture more youths to realise their dreams and develop strong values through sports, especially football,” said Ms. Tan May Lin, Epson Singapore’s General Manager (Sales, Marketing & Customer Service Division).

“We greatly welcome the continuation of this exchange program and wish to thank everyone at Epson, our club’s main sponsor, and Epson Singapore who made it happen. There is no doubt that this international exchange with Singapore, which is in line with the J League’s Asian business expansion strategy and one-country one-club exchange program, will be a step toward globalizing our club’s brand,” said Takeshi Yamazaki, academy director of Kabushiki Kaisha Matsumoto Yamaga.

“Apart from training daily on the Karigane Ground in Matsumoto, the six players from the academy will participate in a practice match as members of the Matsumoto Yamaga football club and receive individual training. They will also do some sightseeing in Matsumoto, stay in the Matsumoto Yamaga dormitory, and experience Japanese culture. We will also have them help run a home game (against Yamagata) in packed Alwin Stadium and enjoy a live match. “We hope that this exchange program will be a catalyst to further development of the relationship between the Football Association of Singapore and our club and that, through the agency of athletics, we contribute to exchanges and friendship between our two countries,” added Director Yamazaki.

“Since last year’s attachment, we’ve seen Adam and Elijah progress both on and off the pitch in their skills and attitudes, and they’ve grown to become role models to their team mates and juniors. This trip would allow the boys to grow even further still in terms of technique, learning from some of the best in Asia. More importantly, we want to get the boys to change their mind-set and awareness, and learn (from the Japanese players on how) to influence their environment in Singaporean football,” said Rob Servais, head coach of the Singapore U-15 squad, National Football Academy, Football Association of Singapore.

TomTom Golfer 2 drives a golfer’s game to the next level

~Automatic shot detection and post-game analysis helps golfers improve their game~

Singapore, 16th March 2016:
TomTom
(TOM2) today announces the ultra-slim TomTom Golfer 2, a GPS Watch designed to help golfers improve their game by using automatic shot detection to give detailed post-round analysis.

Eliminating uncertainty by measuring distances to greens and hazards the TomTom Golfer 2 uses automatic shot detection to help golfers understand their distance potential. They can see distances for drives and approach shots at-a-glance and then analyse their strokes in TomTom MySports after the game. The auto scorecard tracks the score to make it easy for a golfer to see what is working in their game, and what improvements can be made.

“We know that often the best improvements simply come from knowing where you went wrong” says Clive Millington, COO, TomTom. “This is why we have designed such detailed post-game analysis for the TomTom Golfer 2 to show you where to improve, but also to know what you’re capable of.”

The ultimate round feature combines the best holes from a course that has been played regularly to demonstrate what a best potential round could look like. The TomTom MySports post-game analysis gives insights into shot patterns and greens in regulation. Rounds can be studied hole-by-hole in order to build on your strengths and improve your weaknesses.

The TomTom Golfer 2 uses graphics to easily visualise the best approach to the green, giving precise distances to front and back of the hazards on over 40K* courses worldwide.

Sleek, lightweight, water-resistant and durable for long-lasting comfort, the TomTom Golfer 2 is designed to be worn both on and off the course. The TomTom Golfer 2 will be available in May 2016.

Additional features of TomTom Golfer 2 include:

  • Green Distances – Precise yardages to front, centre and back of green.
  • Hazards – See distances to individual hazards along the fairway.
  • Lay-up – See remaining distances to lay-up points.
  • Greenview – View unique green and hazard graphics before your shot.
  • Round Tracking – Keep track of the score, distance, and time for your round.
